A tragic outcome to an accident that occurred in Kocudza Pierwsza in the Lublin region: the injured motorcyclist has died in the hospital from his injuries.
According to the local news portal bilgorajska.pl, the victim was Grzegorz Berdzik, a well-known local government official. The 48-year-old had served for many years as a councilor for the town of Józefów.
Tragic accident in the Lublin region
Police in Janów Lubelski reported the accident, which took place on October 29 between Dzwola and Frampol. Staff Sergeant Faustyna Łazur stated that the incident involved a motorcycle and two passenger cars.
A 71-year-old driver of a Honda passenger car attempted to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front of him. He swerved into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with the approaching motorcyclist.
He also struck the side of the vehicle he had been trying to avoid, the officer reported.
Well-known local politician dies
The motorcyclist sustained the most severe injuries and was airlifted to the hospital by an Air Ambulance crew while unconscious.
Doctors fought for a long time to save the 48-year-old’s life, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The man passed away. The victim was identified as Grzegorz Berdzik, a councilor on the Józefów Town Council.

The local government official’s funeral took place on Thursday, November 9, in his hometown. The funeral mass was led by Father Paweł Dynak, who spoke movingly about the deceased.
“Motorcycles were your passion.
During one of your journeys, you didn’t reach your destination. I personally remember several times we met. Whenever we spoke, you would ask me with a smile on your face: ‘When are we going for a ride on those bikes together?’ Today, sadly, I know that won’t be possible,” he recalled.
Colleagues bid farewell to Grzegorz Berdzik
The politician was also mourned by his long-time colleagues, who unanimously noted that work was a true passion for Grzegorz Berdzik. They added that he was also a “model local government official.”

“He was a well-liked, warm, and cordial man—and thus a fine role model for us all. We bid farewell to Grzegorz Berdzik with a sense of immense gratitude.
